Short profile of the KliK Foundation
The Foundation for Climate Protection and Carbon Offset (KliK) is the sector-wide carbon offset grouping for fossil motor fuels, established within the framework of the Swiss CO₂ Law. The Swiss CO₂ Law requires mineral oil companies responsible
for releasing fossil motor fuels for consumption to offset part of
the CO₂ emissions resulting from the use of these motor fuels. The
KliK Foundation fulfils this legal obligation on their behalf. To
this end, it funds projects in Switzerland that reduce greenhouse
gas emissions, thereby actively contributing to sustainable climate
What is the KliK Foundation’s purpose?
Foundation aims to serve as a carbon offset grouping according to
art. 27 of the Swiss CO₂ Law, in particular fulfilling carbon
offset obligations on behalf of affiliated mineral oil companies.
This takes place by means of direct or indirect funding, support,
planning and implementation of carbon offset schemes in Switzerland,
which are imputable according to the provisions of the Swiss CO₂
Who are the initiators of the KliK Foundation?
per 1 January 2013, the Swiss Petroleum Association established the
Foundation for Climate Protection and Carbon Offset (KliK) to serve
as the sector’s carbon offset grouping. A specialised service
platform is thus available to mineral oil companies responsible for
releasing fossil motor fuels for consumption: on their behalf, it
handles the fulfilment of their carbon offset obligation under the
Swiss CO₂ Law.|
