Capacity building and readiness for cooperation under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement
What are the outcomes of the Climate Change Conference COP27 in Sharm El-Sheikh? Although the negotiations yielded mixed results, at a technical level, the foundations for a stable accounting in international cooperation under Article 6 were finally laid. This improves further developments of cooperative climate action for the KliK Foundation.
Switzerland is taking a leading role in the deployment of climate-friendly technologies and innovations under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, together with its partner countries. The KliK Foundation stands ready to support climate protection activities.
At COP27, the KliK Foundation participated as observer, as well as organiser and speaker in several side events, sharing experiences from its pioneering support for international climate protection programmes under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.

Generating ITMOs in Accordance with Article 6.2 under the Bilateral Cooperation Agreement with Switzerland
The session brought together practitioners who are pioneering development and implementation of GHG mitigation programmes as part of Switzerland's bilateral cooperation under Article 6.2 of the Paris Agreement. The goal was to share experiences and provide key insights to the audience.
Sharing Best Practices and Lessons Learned from Capacity Building for Implementation of Article 6
For the robust implementation of Article 6, it is important to strengthen support for capacity building and international coordination. To this end, this event shared experiences of the capacity building activities, including institutional arrangement for authorization, registry and A6 reporting.
Exploring Article 6 Cooperation Opportunities in the Maghreb and African Region
Morocco has been an early mover in the CDM and aims to become a leader in Article 6 activities. Ghana is already considered to be amongst the frontrunners in Article 6 cooperation. International experts presented Morocco’s and Ghana’s Article 6 strategy, their engagement in Article 6 pilots and shared their experiences in cooperating with buyers of Article 6 credits. International organisations presented their initiatives to support seller countries in their aspirations to engage in Article 6 cooperation.
Moving Towards Article 6 Implementation Through Capacity Building and Blending with Climate Finance
The event focuses on capacity building to enable Article 6 implementation in SIDS. The role of private and public climate finance for blending with credit sales revenues as well as international development of specific methodological tools to enable a rapid Article 6 implementation are highlighted.

Implementing Article 6: Multilateral Development Banks Experience a Year After Glasgow
Carbon pricing, within an integrated climate policy mix, is one of the most powerful tools available for guiding economies toward a low carbon pathway. The MDBs are committed to meeting increased demand by supporting countries with the design, piloting, and implementation of carbon pricing instruments. The event provides an update on key initiatives to support the operationalisation of Article 6 while pointing out opportunities to pilot first transactions through the MDB investment portfolio.
CDM Transition in the Context of Ambition Increase Through Article 6
Article 6 shall increase overall mitigation ambition. At the same time, countries only have a short time frame to practically transition mitigation activities from the Kyoto into the Paris period. How can host countries reconcile these requests? What conditions should they set for CDM transition?
