Foundation for Climate Protection and Carbon Offset KliK
Fulfilling an official role under Swiss
climate legislation

In accordance with the requirements of the Swiss CO₂ Act, the KliK Foundation is expected to help reduce 40 million tonnes of CO₂ over the current decade. This corresponds to around 10% of Swiss emissions.

The KliK Foundation is the carbon offset grouping of the Swiss motor fuel importers, mandated under the Swiss CO₂ Act to offset parts of the carbon emissions generated by the use of motor fuels in Switzerland. We support climate-friendly technologies and innovations in Switzerland and abroad. As a private organisation, we use our financial contributions to initiate projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and thus make an active contribution to sustainable climate protection.

0 CO2e

This amount of CO₂ equivalent (CO₂e) has been reduced in Switzerland and abroad since 2013, thanks to the climate protection efforts of the KliK Foundation and its partners.

Impact
made visible

Our climate protection efforts are diverse – as is their impact. Interactive graphics and diagrams illustrate where and how the greenhouse gas mitigation activities avoid CO₂ emissions, the areas in which we are particularly active, and the progress we have already made.

countries currently have a bilateral climate agreement with Switzerland (listed here by signing date). Emission reductions can be credited to Switzerland if the corresponding greenhouse gas mitigation activities supplement the measures in the partner country and thus enhance their countries ambitions.

Contractually expected defined impact from climate protection activities in million tonnes CO₂e between 2022 and 2030 (as of the end of 2024).

A total of CHF 2.11 billion is earmarked for the acquisition of certificates for the years 2022 to 2030. Spread across fossil fuel sales during this period, this corresponds to additional costs of 4.2 cents per litre.

The costs of financing the activities will be passed on to the price of petrol and diesel. They amount to up to five cents per litre.

Since 2025, the Swiss CO₂ Act has required mineral oil companies to offset in Switzerland and abroad an average of 37.5% of greenhouse gas emissions caused by transport in Switzerland by 2030.

0

Almost 17 million tonnes CO₂e have been saved in Switzerland since 2013 with the support of the KliK Foundation.
