Driving climate action through high-integrity carbon markets in West Africa: The KliK Foundation is pleased that Aurélien Pillet, Carbon Procurement Director at the KliK Foundation, was invited to the West Africa Carbon Market Hub 2025 in Senegal, which aimed to unlock carbon markets and enhance the economic sovereignty of West African countries. With the KliK Foundation’s focus on Senegal — a country that has signed a bilateral agreement with Switzerland in accordance with Article 6.2 of the Paris Agreement — the event provided the opportunity to meet cooperation partners and key stakeholders involved in implementing Article 6.2 activities in the country. A dynamic week of dialogue and engagement around the future of climate cooperation!
Aurélien Pillet participated in the panel discussion "Building High-Integrity Carbon Markets: Implementing Solutions in West Africa", alongside leading experts shaping the future of Article 6 implementation across the region.
On this occasion, the Swiss Embassy in Senegal hosted an event that brought together activity developers, institutions and partners who share the same ambition: to leverage the cooperative approach of the Paris Agreement for sustainable transformation and the fight against climate change.

We witnessed a vibrant and growing ecosystem of local initiatives — from electric mobility to BESS, electric and improved cooking, solar pumping, waste management, and low-carbon cement — anchored in local leadership and innovation.
Across the week, we heard a clear call for strong governance frameworks, credible standards, clear, predictable business environments, and sustained public-private collaboration.
The Swiss Embassy reception offered an important platform to deepen bilateral ties and exchange on Switzerland’s long-term climate cooperation in the region.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all the activity developers, institutions, and partners in Senegal, and the organisers of the West Africa Carbon Market Hub. West Africa is ready to lead with integrity, ambition, and vision.
